Below are photos of the amazing waterfalls at Havasupai. There are many smaller waterfalls throughout the area, but the 5 main waterfalls in Havasu Canyon are Havasu Falls, Mooney Falls, Beaver Falls, Little Navajo Falls, and Fifty Foot Falls – each waterfall is connected to Havasu Creek. I’ve been to Havasupai four times and I’ve never seen the area thrive as much as I did my fourth time. It’s amazing to see the physical changes that take place at Havasupai. Every year, unpredictable storms and flash floods shape the canyon and the waterfalls in it. The photos below are from my trip to Havasupai in the fall of 2017.

Havasu Falls

Havasu Falls is the prized waterfall and main attraction at the Havasupai area. This waterfall is a quick half mile from the Havasupai campgrounds where it stands at 100 feet tall. Every inch of this waterfall is mesmerizing as well as the surrounding area. It’s visually appealing to look at and great for pictures. This is also one of the popular swimming areas at Havasu Creek.

Of all the waterfalls in the area, Havasu Falls has been photographed the most. It has changed forms a few times which makes it exciting to revisit. Havasu Falls once had a wider waterfall and at another time two water streams coming down.

Mooney Falls

At 200-feet high is Mooney Falls. This is the tallest waterfall in Havasu Canyon, and it’s also the largest waterfall in Arizona. What’s really unique to Mooney Falls is the route to get there. You have to enter a mini cave and then decline on a chain ladder to get to the base. It does get slippery so watch your step. At heavy traffic, you may be waiting 30 minutes to go up or down. It’s not recommended to take pictures while going up or down, but if you can’t resist, you might want to do it when there’s less traffic – earlier or later in the day.

Beaver Falls

The last of the major waterfalls in Havasu Canyon is Beaver Falls. It’s not impressive for its size, but it’s known for the layers of pools around it. This is the largest terrace pools at Havasu Creek and another great swimming area. Getting to it may be discouraging for many people as it requires a 6-mile hike roundtrip from Mooney Falls.

Fifty Foot Falls

Fifty Foot Falls is one of the first waterfalls that you will hear on the trail. The waterfall is hidden behind dirt mounds. It’s one mile away from the village and only a few minutes away from Little Navajo Falls. Throughout the years, plants around the waterfall have thrived making the scenery a lot more green.

Little Navajo Falls

Little Navajo Falls is the first waterfall that you will actually see on the trail. It’s about 20-30 feet high and a great spot to soak in the sun because the area is more exposed to sunlight. You’ll typically see more people cliff jump at this part of Havasu Creek more than any other waterfalls in previous years. I didn’t see many people hang out in the area this time around. Rockfall has made the area less shallow for swimming and cliff jumping.

  1. Havasuuuuu!😭😫 We were so closed but didnt get any permis! In a few years we are going back to the US road tripping for atleast a few month and hopefully this time we will be seeing the waterfalls with our own eyes! It might be a bit more complicated though because now we have a baby girl! Keep up exploring!❤️🙏

    1. Oh man! So sorry to hear that. I’ve been 4 times in the past 5 years and I love every time I go. But it takes a lot of effort to get the permit once the reservation lines are open on February 1st. Last year my call logs reached over 1000 calls to their phone lines lol. Good luck. I hope you get to experience it.

  2. Your pictures are beautiful! Scenery looks unreal! I really like how you post what your camera settings were when you took your pictures. That’s a really good idea!

  3. I need to get to Arizona RIGHT NOW to see these falls!!! I’ve never heard of them before and OMG they are breathtaking! Your photos… are … simply stunning! Thank you for sharing.. I’m adding this to my list of MUST SEE PLACES I have to visit
