Havasupai Helicopter
Havasupai helicopters are available for local and public visitors at Havasupai. The helicopters are not operated by the Havasupai tribe themselves. Airwest Helicopters operate the transportation between the Hualapai Hilltop and Supai Village. The flight is a short 10 minutes from one area to the next. It’s very enjoyable as you set your eyes on an aerial view of Havasu Canyon with the breezing blowing on your face. It also beats hiking 3 to 4 hours in the hot sun. However, it’s even more enjoyable if you’re taking the helicopter out of Havasupai after hiking tens of miles.
Keep in mind that this is not a direct transportation to the Havasu Falls campgrounds. You will still need to hike an additional 2 miles to reach the campgrounds. If you want to know more about the overall trip, view my complete Havasu Falls Guide.
Each person is allowed to carry a medium-sized backpack that weights 20-40 lbs. Additional items may be brought on the helicopter, but a small fee may be required.
Where to Check In for the Havasupai Helicopters
Reservations for Havasupai helicopters are not available online or over the phone. Check-ins are served on a first-come-first-serve basis. Helicopters depart continuously but they will stop for occasional refueling. Lines for the helicopter will form very early in the day, especially on the way out of Havasu Falls. Usually, check-ins will begin about an hour before helicopter operations.
Flying the Havasupai Helicopter into Havasupai
The Havasupai helicopter service area check-in is at the Hualapai Hilltop. It is located right before the main parking area, to the side of the Hualapai Hilltop. The parking lot, the hiking trailhead, and the helicopters are very close to each other.
Flying the Havasupai Helicopter from Havasupai
In Supai Village, check-in is at the grass area. This is located between the Havasupai permit check-in office and the Supai Cafe. After checking in, you can leave the line and do as you please. I do recommend to stay near if your name is at the top of the list.
Helicopter Fees
Using the helicopter service will cost $85 per person to fly one direction. Airwest Helicopters will accept credit card payments as well as cash. There is a $10 transaction fee if you pay with a card per each transaction. You will save money if you pay as a group.
Cost: $85 per person
